Advanced Notices
On Saturday 17th May 08:00 – 16:00 (noisy works 08:00-13:00) and on Sunday 18th May 09:00-14:00, there will be an excavator on site which will be breaking out the concrete and hoist ramp adjacent to Gate 2, which is our logistics entrance on Newington Butts/Elephant and Castle.
The reason these works are unable to take place during the normal working week is because Gate 2 is our main logistics hub and thoroughfare, and ultimately this would shut down all logistics and work for the site. These works also pave way for additional works to this area which are unable to start until this has completed.
Multiplex will have coverage on site who will be overseeing the works and ensure they are carried out according to the agreed hours and do not go beyond. They will also ensure the works are carried out as quickly and with as much courtesy as possible.
Notice of Early/Late start works
Our agreed working hours are currently as follows:
-
- Monday to Friday – 08:00-20:00 (additional hours from 18:00-18:00) Acoustic blankets will be used for these back shift works where possible to help to further mitigate any noise disruption
- Saturday – 08:00-16:00 (additional hours from 13:00-16:00) Acoustic blankets will be used for these back shift works where possible to help to further mitigate any noise disruption.
Relevant signage will be in place to inform the passing public of the works, and diverting pedestrians through Castle Square, ultimately increasing footfall in this area. Discussions are taking place with the Developer to finalise signage and hoarding design. This programme of works will take place between Monday 17th July, commencing with the set up of the hoarding line.
Please note that these works will take place during normal working hours (08:00-18:00 Monday to Friday) and should any additional working hours be granted, we will ensure to update this website page.

Construction Phases
Demolition works are now complete and Multiplex have taken possession of the site with the second phase targeted to be complete by 2026.
The access route through the site is closed from the overground station and pedestrians are to follow the enhanced pavement route along Elephant Road for access between the Rail and northern/Bakerloo Line Underground stations.
The first major construction works began in February 2022 with concrete piling ahead of building. Phase three will commence on the site of the London College of Communication after the College has moved to its new building within phase two.
